Irma G. Ruiz, FNP-C, MBA, BA

Family Nurse Practitioner and Aesthetician

Irma G. Ruiz, is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She began her career in health care by working as an emergency Registered Nurse at HonorHealth in Phoenix, Arizona since 2006. She has over 11 years of experience in various areas of patient care (emergency room nurse, nurse auditor, and nurse practitioner).  In addition to her extensive clinical experience, Irma also has an outstanding academic background including Bachelors of Science in Accounting from Western International University and Masters Business Administration along with Bachelors of Science and Masters of Science in Nursing from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona.

During her tenure as a Registered Nurse, Irma participated with other health care professionals in caring for patients and addressing the patients and families’ healthcare needs. In order to feel better equipped to address these needs in her work with patients, Irma completed a second Master’s degree in healthcare by obtaining her Masters of Science degree in Nursing at Grand Canyon University in 2015.

In addition to healthcare, Irma also has an appreciation for beauty and obtained her certification as an Aesthetician from the Institute for Medical Aesthetics in 2007. She utilizes injectables and fillers such as Botox and Juvederm to reduce signs of aging of the face according to the unique needs and goals of each patient.

Irma’s combination of clinical education and experience in management provide a strong academic foundation needed for good patient care. She has a unique combination of strong nursing skills and strives to provide the best health care possible. Her beliefs are to build long lasting and trusting relationships with patients and families. She strives to acquire a comprehensive evaluation of every patient by taking time to listen, understand and work with patients to meet their particular needs.

Her true desire is to enhance a positive healing experience by providing a benevolent approach to those in need.

Cruz Gonzalez, RCS

Sonographer

Cruz Gonzalez is a Registered Cardiac Sonographer and Technical Director of our Cardiovascular Laboratory. She graduated from West Coast Ultrasound Institute with an Academic Associate of Science degree in Cardiovascular Sonography in January 2016 and obtained her Registered Cardiac Sonographer certification through Cardiovascular Credentialing International in April 2017.

As a Sonographer, she performs ultrasound screenings and health tests that help adults and their doctors become aware of their health risk for stroke, cardiovascular and chronic disease. Utilizing the latest in ultrasound equipment and vascular modality, her primary scope of duties include non-invasive Echocardiography, carotid duplex scan, and peripheral arterial and venous ultrasounds.

As the Technical Director she oversees the operations of our vascular laboratory, accredited through the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission since 2008. She also serves as a member of the Quality Assurance Committee to mmaintain the highest standards of patient care and safety through systematic monitoring and evaluation of services.

Mayela Hernandez

Office Manager

Mayela Hernandez joined our team in June 2006 as the Office Manager. She is responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the practice while working with outside vendors and staff to ensure steady workflows and uninterrupted service in our medical facility.  Mayela serves as a member of the Quality Assurance Committee and volunteer coordinator for the Arizona Diabetes Foundation educational website.

Mayela brings over 21 years of combined experience of medical healthcare systems operations and administration. Prior to joining our team she worked in various different administrative capacities in government, behavioral health, and hospice.

Brenda Becker, BS, MBA

Billing Manager

Brenda Becker is the Billing Manager with over 13 years of health care experience working in the areas of billing, accounting, and Medicare reimbursement.

She has worked with a wide range of health care organizations and attained an understanding of Medicare reimbursement and payment methodologies, including a focus on compliance regulations.

She plays an integral part to the success of Southwest Internal Medicine Group by performing the day to day billing functions, including claims submission, payment posting, claims follow-up, patient statements and financial accounting.
